Import data from on-line bank statement using QIF (Quick Interchange Format), OFX and HBCI. However, there are positive and negative impacts of this software on organizations as following: Positive Impacts: Used as checkbook register: Auto completion -> reduce data entry errors. It has planning in place for the next 3 years, so I think it is here to stay. GnuCash is helpful financial software for small-business users. Too old to bother changing now (or even looking)! What I can say is that it is a mature program, & has a good community supporting it. Wether it is the 'best' program, I cannot say. Have a Google around: there are some good Tutorials on using Gnucash. It does my job, but there are features I would like (such as annual roll-overs for tax: after 10 years the file gets long, but it is handy being able to search for an old purchase for warranty purposes for example. Mostly just around tax time as a way to organize profit and losses for my small business. I have been using Gnucash for about 10 years now. Downloading and importing bank transactions I have been using gnucash for many years. One thing is that Gnucash 'learns' transactions, so does automatically match many more duplicate transactions next time. On the next step after importing all your files, you can change accounts (from the ones Gnucash has suggested) The step after that is when Gnucash matches transactions: this is where you can match the credits from one account to the corresponding debits (& depending on your bank, the transactions might be named differently, but the amounts will match.) I usually miss some because this version of Gnucash does not give you much info on the transaction, so I edit them later in the account window before or during reconciliation. When you import into Gnucash, accept the given accounts. (However I am definitely only a (ab)user, not an X-pert! Its packaged in Format so it can easily integrate with the Platform. It has all the same great features as most commercial money management programs and more. Just saw this topic, & might be able to shed some light. GnuCash Portable is an open source financial management application packaged as a portable app, so you can take your financial data with you.
